Biography

Joe Fishel is an actor, filmmaker, screenwriter, and playwright dedicated to character-driven storytelling that explores themes of identity, resilience, grief, and the human condition. With extensive experience working as cast and crew on productions ranging from no-budget independent shorts to major studio feature films grossing over one billion dollars at the box office, he brings a practical, well-rounded understanding of the filmmaking process to every project. Drawing from his multifaceted background both in front of and behind the camera, Joe crafts production-conscious narratives that blend drama, humor, and authentic emotional depth, with writing that spans feature screenplays, dark comedies, and semi-autobiographical works. Beyond film, he has expanded his creative work into theater, reflecting on personal experiences, adulthood, and community, including his background as a former collegiate student-athlete. He earned a Bachelor's degree from Juniata College along with two graduate degrees from Slippery Rock University. Aside from filmmaking, Joe enjoys a wide variety of interests and hobbies. Born in western Pennsylvania, he continues to live and work in the region.
